'Anthropomorphism is when human-like attributes are given to non-human creatures or things. Buggs Bunny and Mickey Mouse, as well as inanimate objects like the Brave Little Toaster, are famous examples of anthropomorphic characters.

Anthropomorphism in Religion

Many polytheistic religions have believed in gods that were part human and part animal. Gods like Anubis and Set had mostly human characteristics, but would still be considered anthropomorphic.

Anthropomorphism in Literature

As far back as Aesop's Fables, anthropomorphic animals and objects have been used in literature, especially to appeal to children. Another famous use of anthropomorphism is in Through the Looking Glass, by Lewis Carroll.

Anthropomorphism today

Advertisements, comics, cartoons, movies, and just about any other kind of media has involved anthropomorphism.[1]

Furries tend to have anthropomorphic animals as their persona.
